Sunburned Hand of the Man + Gregg Turner of the Angry Samoans Oct. 20th

Is it Psych? Is it Noise? Is it Freak-Folk?
Or possibly some unknown quantity still to be named?

..

With constant comparisons to the German Art-Rock band CAN and reviews that largely are unable to pin them down to anything more specific than part of the "New Weird America" scene as described in Wire Magazine, Sunburned Hand of the Man refuse to worry what you call them. Playing hundreds of gigs in the underground avant-garde-rock scene for the past 10 years proves their unwavering determination and devotion to their unique brand of outsider music. From the New York Times article by Ben Ratliff: "...it carries an edge of ragged, freaky attitude, some kind of cross between spacey naïveté and confrontational sarcasm."

We like that.

They will be joining us for a rare, intimate evening of music and socializing this October.

Also joining us on this evening will be singer, songwriter and guitarist for the legendary Angry Samoans, Gregg Turner. Did you know Gregg was one of the original music reviewers of Creem magazine along with Lester Bangs and Richard Meltzer? And that he formed the punk band Vom with Richard Meltzer in 1976? And he also played with Roky Erickson of the 13th Floor Elevators?

UNREAL!

We are super excited to have Gregg come and share his wit and warble with us as well.

..
